Hi guys
I'm not even sure what it's called but the forward edge of my coupe's driver's door that mates with the A-pillar.

My car is so clean that this is heartbreaking. Is there a product that you can shoot & fill this with that can pause the rust? Is there some old timer's trick to deal with this?

Any insight is appreciated - thanks.

The reason is water and damaged paint, could even be paint defects from factory. Rust doesn't stop, don't count on "tricks", anything you "shoot & fill" will retain moisture, likely make things worse. Fluid film would slow it down, but is messy and short lived.

Now that you noticed the rust, you can really do something to slow it down:
(1) take off the weather stripping
(2) sand away ALL the rust
(3) treat and paint with POR-15

The bottom of my door had rust worse than yours. After I did POR-15, there is still no sign of rust coming back 4 years later.

+1 to everything that @visionguru mentioned.

That said, I’d rather have rust on a door edge than a quarter panel. Ask me why… (sigh).

I would at least spray it with Fluid Film to slow it down until you can address it further. If it's in that one spot you should be okay with fluid film once or twice a year. It's hard to see but you might be able to get a hand file in there to grind it down some or clean it out before you spray it.

As others have said, there's no quick way to fix it. That's major corrosion. Waiting will lead to perforation, and the only way to fix that is welding or a new door.

Take it to a body shop that deals with rust. A lot of body shops won't touch it, but they will refer you to someone who will.

It's already perforated and disintegrating. My daughter's '06 Civic driver's door had the exact same thing long ago so I assumed it was 'common' for old Hondas.

I'm starting to fear that cutting & welding-in a clean section of pillar from a donor door is the only real solution.

I have a Mickey Mouse solution in mind that can't really hurt, as long as I don't actually accelerate the rust. I'll post some better pics.
