This may sound trivial to some, but its been driving me crazy!

Those of you who have followed my previous posts know I bought a 08 Coupe after my MB C230 lease was up in February. I used to call my MB the "Death Sled" due to the horrible driving in bad weather, but after owning the Honda for a few months its new name is the "Squeak Sled".

Every day something else squeaks and Im just not used to it. The MB never made a noise after 3 years...it was always quiet as a mouse. My fiance thinks I'm nuts, but I guess stuff like that is just more annoying to me. The worst thing though is the damn driver's seat. The car has less than 2k miles on it, and the seat sounds like I've been giving it a workout with a fat chick.

I dont even have to be moving..all I do is sit in it, and lean back/forward and it squeaks like crazy. Forget about actually driving...the thing makes noise evertime I brake/accelerate.

I plan on telling my service dept about it when I bring it in for its first oil change, but I was curious if this is something that others have noticed and if so maybe you have a quick-fix solution?

Thanks in advance.

This might not sound useful, but welcome to a Honda manufactured product. Durability is great, but they do squeak, and you have to tell the service people to fix it for you, and you have to be persistent about it. Point out everything you see needs to be repaired, and after a year or so, you will have a quality car on your hands that lives up to your expectations.

My leather driver's seat squeaks when you wiggle side to side. But seems to only happen when the temp is 55 or less. :dunno:

My car is spending the night at the dealership tonight as they had to order/replace my drivers front strut as well. I am hoping for the best tomorrow night when I pick it up.

(I have a rental, '08 Dodge Caravan. not good but not the most horrible vehicle I have been in)

My seat usually sqeaks when I accelerate or decelerate, but I am not able to replicate the noise by shifting my weight around while in the seat. It may not actually be the seat; however, I found that when I slightly adjust the fore/aft position the squeak seems to stop for a while and then comes back.

I also find that if I push myself into the back of the seat there are quite a few sqeaks and spring noises. It does not seem to be an issue during normal driving, but I do not think that it is normal.

I'll have the dealer investigate when I go in for my first service.

Cold + Leather is the reason I would assume.

Your MB C230 more than likely didn't have real leather, rather MB TEX which is what they use on the lower C230 and C240 models. Leather is a good 2 grand+ more as part of a premium package of sorts.

Also, the springs in the seat my squeak when its cold. You could bring it in just to see what they might try and do though.

It's a bummer so many people are having warranty items done, but I guess its pretty common with any new vehicle + the fact that this is a forum where people come usually because they're having a problem, which is why its pretty much the worst idea ever to use a forum to judge the quality of a car or not.

My MB had real leather. The car had every option available. The sqeaking is not the common noise you get from leather (re: Jacket, Seats, Etc) its coming from the seat frame itself.

Weather does not matter as it has happened in weather ranging from 30-75 degrees here in NJ.

I'm getting so paranoid reading everything about rattles, squeaks and other random noises that everybody is reporting. I've owned plenty of Hondas and I've experienced this in previous cars but my '08 seems so well constructed. But after only 1100 miles, I'm guessing it's inevitable.....

nah, its like this on all forums, the people who have the issue will start/reply to the threads, whereas those that dont have no reason to
1500miles, no squeaks rattles etc...

most likely the seat tracks/frame need some silicone spray....I had to fix the creak in my Gen 7 several times, all times by myself. Not really that big a deal but you have to find where the sound comes from. The worst I had to do for that is to remove a snap on piece of plastic trim.

nah, don't be. cars are made of thousands of individual pieces, each with their own small deformities. If your pieces are aligned just right, all will be well. :paranoid:

most likely you are correct. I am hoping to talk to the tech and find out where the squeak came from as I have no problem doing things myself, after warranty

I am with the Caravan for another day (three days on their dollar). I got a phone call from the dealership today saying that they heard my squeaky seat. They are replacing the driver's seat railing pieces (or something), which of course they had to order. tomorrow night I should have a good-as-new car.

My 08 accord seat used to squeek just like you described. I didnt do anything other than adjust the seat in all directions to see if it went away. I then adjusted back to my position and the sound went away. Maybe it distributed the lubricant....not sure why it fixed itself. If it comes back, I will try the silicone spray....after that, its back to the dealer.

As for squeaks and rattles....some cars are worse than others. Honda for me has been pretty good overall...easily fixed. Those of us who post here, are generally enthusiasts of sorts. At the very least, we expect alot from our cars....thats why we buy affordable quality (Honda, Toyota). If we had lower expectations, we would all be driving something made by one of the "Big 3". Just my opinion.

Hi,

I noticed that the hinges ware the seat bends (forward/backwards) has white plastic bushings and they need silicone spray. At the bottom of the seat, near the flore, the seat runs on rails, and at, the seat slide piece, where the two sides meets the rail, it makes contact. I can see evidence of metal to metal contact their. This location needs some thinker type of grease. I used a Synthetic, moly/graphite, grease. And, finally, theirs a hinge, that make it passable to raise and lower the seat, and this needs a spray-in grease, too (White lithium or such (raise the seat all the way up, for access).
My seat make no more noises....

Except if I eat at Toco Bell ;=)..

Now you guys mentioned the drivers seat being squeeky, but my passenger-side is REALLY squeeky. Thank's to honda, only the V6 option gets to have to sets of power seats, so my passenger is essentially stuck with levers to pull when they want to move their seat. Whenever I take a turn or just plain accelerate, my (occupied) passenger seat just squeeks away like there is no tomorrow. It's going on my nerves, but I want to make sure anyone else has this to.

I had the same issue. The techs kept trying to tell me that they couldn't reproduce the squeak. I went down to the dealership and had the seat squeaking like mad after about a minute. The techs grudgingly admitted that there was a problem. They kept the car for a couple days, and had to strip the seat down to the frame, but it turns out the frame in the seat bottom was defective/broken and had to be replaced under warranty.
