Hi there ,

I own a 2007 Accord, 2.4L, 4 CYL, 4 Door.

I've had excessive road feel through the steering for the past 8 months or so. This is accompanied by the steering occassionally visibly shaking on some roads. The road feel is constant when going at or over 60 kph.

The steering also occassionally pulls to the right at higher speeds and the front end feels a little bouncy at high speeds (110 kph+). There was a sharper, constant pull to the right which was solved by replacing the Right knuckle (apprently it had warped).

The steering wheel also occassionally feels a little loose.

Suspension related work done since June 2022:
1. Front and Rear Shocks and bushings changed (all new) (Still doing well on the bounce test).
2. Inner and Outer Tie Rods changed (No visible play).
3. Rear control arms changed (full set used - bushing were in good condition).
4. New Tyres (replaced previous ones after 56k kms of use).
5. Wheel Alignment
6. Tyre balancing
7. Rear Right Wheel bearing change due to noise
8. Front Left Wheel bearing change due to noise
9. Front Right Axle change (replaced with used axle)
10. Upper control arms changed in Feb 2022.

Please let me know what the possible causes could be and/ or what else I should look at. I suspect it could be the Lower Control Arms or the Axles but I'd like to be sure.

Tyres are currently inflated to 34 PSI all around.

Could this be a possible cause for the discomfort/ shakes I feel?

This is the Left Hand Side Tie Rod (see boot) when the steering is turned completely to the right.

Question is whether the Tie rod boot plays some part in shock absorption (since I feel the vibrations in the steering wheel) or not. The internet does not seem to have a definite answer on this.

Other components on the Left Hand Side (where I primarly feel the vibrations coming from):

Also Honda suggests not turning to complete lock and holding it there (completely to the left or right side of the steering wheel movement) for more than 5 seconds. Don’t know the reasons, probably to do with seals and such.. just don’t hit it completely as often as you cannot

Mine does this on acceleration, some roads are worse than others. I know my struts are shot, and suspect I may need to check the Intermediate/Half shaft bearing. You said you have changed your struts (front and rear) along with numerous other suspension components. I would start looking at drive components. Good Luck.

Right Side Axle was blown. Replaced it and vibrations have reduced significantly.

Still get a lot of tire feel through the steering wheel. What components possibly cause this? My list so far is:
1. Upper Control Arms
2. Lower Control Arms
3. Tie Rods (Inner and Outer)
4. Wheel bearings
5. Rims
6. Tyres
7. Axles

Any components missing/ to be removed?

Fwiw, how is your power steering fluid and pump?

Do you notice any visible noise? Have you tried driving in a quiet parking mall with turns? Is your issue more evident when braking or accelerating?

Have you tried checking your brake pad wear or rotors for unevern wear? It might give you clues.

Did you ask the shop that performed the work? Seems like a lot of work was done. Maybe rack n pinion issue?

I would do the Left side axle as well. Mine were worn out at 180k. Luckily I had a spare parts car with low mileage and good outer joints. I put the right side one in and it is way smoother, so i might also consider doing my left one as well. If the outer joints have any sloppiness to them, you'll most likely feel high speed vibrations.

Had to get tires balanced again. Took the car out on the highway yesterday and it was awful. Today will road test to see if the balancing worked.

Steering fluid level is the same so I assume the pump is ok.

No audible noise Issue is evident continuously when in D.

No uneven Brake wear. Brakes do make a clunking noise sometimes when I brake at really slow speeds.

Shop that performed the work is clueless.

Replace that inner tie road for the loose steering feel and replace your tires with quieter tyres

Wheel shimmy is most always tire balance. Also if a tire needs excess weight to balance it's slightly out of round. But upper control arms wich contain ball joints could add to the problem and is also a safety issue. I'd replace control arms and new balanced tires.
