Hi all,

I am looking at the below as a solution for the stripped thread on the oil pan.

Dorman - AutoGrade - Oil-Tite! Oil Drain Plug Oversize M14-1.50 from Pep boys.

Has anyone used this before? please let me know if there are any other fixes for this. I am trying to avoid having to replace the pan. Thanks.

So, I went with the helicoil thread repair kit. Use loctite red threadlocker to place the insert into the retapped drain hole and left it overnight to cure. I bought a dorman oil-tite drain plug with a fiber washer and closed it up. It's still seeping oil this morning.

Can someone tell me if there is a remedy for that? Did I do something wrong? Would a crush washer from Honda dealer help? Thanks again for any suggestion.

I haven't tried that. Can you explain how that works? Thanks.

Thread moved to "Problems and solutions".

Nexson may be suggesting the Teflon plumber tape.

I would use the aluminum crush washer rathern than the fiber ones.

Thanks for the tips. I will try aluminum crush washer and teflon tape. Will report back with results.

Yellow gas line teflon tape from Home Depot and Honda crush washer did the job. No more leaks. Thanks guys!

Hey guys,

I'm back with some bad news. After a few weeks of driving, it is starting to ooze oil again. But it's not at a point where it will drip down to the ground. I was wondering if the plug is coming loose from all the vibration. Any additional advice is appreciated.

I had that happen to one of my cars.
you have to have oil pan retread or you have to replace it.

Sorry dude, but a correct solution to your problem is to get a new oil pan on there. I know that's not what you wanna hear.

Those adapter things just ****, they work for a short period then your oil leak appears again.

After replacing the oil pan, do the oil changes your self because some shops will over tighten the oil drain plug.

Good luck.

I had this happened to me, i decided to do an oil change and couldnt get the bolt off realizing the last mechanical over tighten it and when i opened it up the thread was bent and dented and i figured this guy most likely used an impact gun or wrench and didnt aim right before screwing it back in. i had to go buy another one from autozone hand tighten it wasnt working...it kept leaking. I decided to Use an impacted wrench to get that thing in to stick in permanently (never dripped again) and went to honda after the next oil change. Idk what they did but they took it upon themselve to fix thinking they were at fault. now im changing oil again without leak again. Never trust anyone with your car lol.

Thanks for the input everyone. I kinda got more stubborn over this. There's gotta be something out there that will fix this. But then I shouldn't spend more money on temp fixes. Maybe a pan is the best solution.

Hytekazn, that's a funny story. LOL

I would get a new pan.

I would rather pay a bit more and know some quick fix will not leave me stranded somewhere with no oil in the engine.

I was thinking of JB welding a Fumoto drain valve into the drain hole. This should plug up the leak and i won't need to remove it going forward. What do you guys think?

Risky.

Are you prepared if it decides to break free while you are driving down the highway or on aroad trip?

That's a good point. Luckily, my car is only needed for 8 miles per way to and from work. So i can keep an eye on it regularly. Is oil pan replacement on the Accord labor intensive? I don't have the $200+ to spend on it right now, if I were to take it to the shop.
