I just recently bought a v6 2002 honda accord with 100k kms on it and it's a beauty. I'm thinking about tuning the performance but I'm not a car guy, so I've been having a hard time trying to understand what parts i need for the car. What should i start with do improve the performance of my car.

Is it a coupe or sedan? Your question depends on what your hot button is for "performance." My button is handling qualities and steering response, as well power. My current ride is a V6 sedan and I modded the suspension, and am happy with the stock engine & tranny. However, I had an 03 V6 coupe and it needed nothing in any category! My suggestion is drive it for at least 1,000 km, make sure regular maintenance is taken care of (especially tranny fluid), then decide what you think is missing. Welcome to DA!

Always do maintenance in it first. See what, if anything, it needs. If anything needs replacing, replace with performance oriented options.

So, if it needs new shocks, get something like Koni, Tokico, Bilstein, etc.

If it needs bushings, replace with polyurethane instead of rubber.

If it needs springs (might as well do with shocks) replace with Eibach, Tein, etc.

You get the idea.

Some things you want to keep stock, like belts, fluids, etc.

Performance engine mods are pointless on the J30A1. I mean, yeah, you can build up a J30A1 to 250+ HP, but it'd be far cheaper and easier to swap in a J32A4 for the same level of power.
