Always do maintenance in it first. See what, if anything, it needs. If anything needs replacing, replace with performance oriented options.
So, if it needs new shocks, get something like Koni, Tokico, Bilstein, etc.
If it needs bushings, replace with polyurethane instead of rubber.
If it needs springs (might as well do with shocks) replace with Eibach, Tein, etc.
You get the idea.
Some things you want to keep stock, like belts, fluids, etc.
Performance engine mods are pointless on the J30A1. I mean, yeah, you can build up a J30A1 to 250+ HP, but it'd be far cheaper and easier to swap in a J32A4 for the same level of power.
