I just solved mine what an easy headache treatment
As mentioned, i packed an insulation foam between the HUD glass and the bezel and abracadabra...
Could you link me what type of insulation foam you used? I need to fix this issue. Arizona summers are making the noise unbearable.

Jacob - virtually anything would work. I used strips of flexible black leather, but felt or even just a couple thicknesses of cloth would work. All you need is something to get rid of plastic on plastic contact. It's those two surfaces rubbing that causes the squeaky noise.

Did the dealership performed the repair based on the document A19-083? Did you mention about this to the service representative who handled your case at the dealership?

I had a similar issue with my Accord Touring and the guys at dealership were clueless, until I mentioned about this document. I left my car at the dealership so that they could witness the rattling noise themselves as it happened only in day time when parked in sunlight. The dealership acknowledged the issue and performed the repair as per document A19-083.
Thankfully, I have not heard the noise since then.
Hello there, it's been 8 months since the repair was done, but I was wondering if the issue has come back since then.

Actually, as naive as it may sound, I do expect them to test a car for months before they release it. Squeaks and rattles are just one issue. Safety, performance, and fit and finish are all areas that require multiple tests to assure quality. It is much less expensive to solve a problem prior to delivering a car from Marysville than it is to pay a dealer to do it post-delivery.

So my question still stands: how did a noise in the car that is experienced by so many Honda customers get past quality control?

For the time being, I'm not going to have Honda do anything about this noise. I've fixed it myself with gasket material (see my earlier contributions to this string) and it has been silent in hot and cool weather ever since. I really don't think the dash needs to be removed in order to slip some sort of damping material (gasket or felt) between the lens and trim of the HUD. I'd be concerned that if Honda removed the dash they'd potentially do more harm than good, even with the best of intentions.

If my HUD noise returns, I'll consider taking it back to Honda. Otherwise, the fix I've done has stopped the noise coming from the HUD. It also only took 10 minutes to do.
Hello there, I am interested in resolving this issue on my own as well. I wanted to ask which gasket you used to fix this issue. Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Elizabeth, the "rattle" is actually a sound made by the vertical walls of the HUD opening extending down from the dashboard that come in contact with the horizontal lens (window) at the top of the HUD. These two plastic surfaces kind of "stick" together as they rub and this makes a creaking sound that is sort of like a rattle. As I said in my post above, ANYTHING that will separate these two surfaces will stop the sound. An automotive store would have thin gasket material and you'd really want it to be black to blend in with the dash. I found my HUD was making that contact at only the two corners nearest me in my position in the driver's seat.

You will force whatever material you use, gasket, foam, cloth, felt, or, like me, leather, in between those two contact points. And, Bob's your uncle, the sound is totally gone!

Hi jackpine,

Would you mind taking a picture and point an arrow of where you put the insert material please?
My english is not good and I have difficulty picturing where exactly.

Thank you.

Does anyone know if and when this problem was corrected at the factory during assembly? I have a 2020 Touring manufactured in 2/2020 and it doesn't seem to have this issue although it only has 1500 miles on it. I'm hoping the fact that there is a TSB regarding the issue means the problem was addressed at the factory also.

Did anyone figure this out yet? My 2.0 Touring has this noise, now that’s its warmer, and it’s horrible to listen to every time I go over a tiny bump. Does anyone without a Touring have this noise? I believe it might be coming from the plastic around the HUD.

I also have a 2019 Accord Touring with the same "squeaky" HUD unit problem. I've had it into the deal 2 times now. They took my dash apart both times but failed to fix the problem. I just got off the customer line with Honda Canada and they are going to escalate the issue to someone higher up in the organization. Clearly, there is a design problem that they are not owning up to. It's crazy for a $46000 car to have this problem.

Agreed, but why don't you just fix it yourself?

Yup, 5 minutes tops. It's sad to me to see some folks who make such a big deal out of such a simple fix. Yea gods! Take the dash apart? Talk about "overthinking" it! All that's needed is something to uncouple the plastic on plastic contact at the dash/HUD interface. I suppose, if you actually took the dash apart then you could simply trim off a bit of the vertical wall at the bottom of the hud opening on the dashboard to create a space there between it and the glass of the HUD. I'm puzzled that Honda technicians can't seem to figure this out.

Maybe they don't understand how the noise is being created? .

Afraid not. Mine is identical, built in 2/20 and it didn't do it until it got very warm outside, over 75° F. Then it was awful. Couple pieces of window foam fixed it, but it's rather inexcusable that it's well documented and has still lingered for 3 model years...

Just had this rattling issue....after having my windshield replaced on my 2021 accord touring....it is the plastic piece behind the rear view mirror! So when u drive and hear that noise, reach up and push upwards on that plastic piece see if it helps. The dealership told me a piece has been broken off during the replacement.....I guess it's a $20 piece to replace...but they did a quick fix of some sort or rubber take to make it stick. I had taken it in originally because my damn hud display stopped working....like u can barley see it in the shade, and when driving in the sun, it completely disappears, even when on full brightness. So frustrating. They think it's something to do do with the glass that was replaced. Not going to stop.until they figure it out and fix it for me.

Many windshield place workers just pry off that cover around the camera. They did it to mine as well and I was able to fix the damage and used a nice amount of TESA tape to avoid rattling and provide a tighter fit.

FWIW, The cover is supposed to be removed by pushing up towards the headliner and it will come right off. Very simple. :)

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but this was my go-to to read about what everyone was doing for this issue. My new to me 18 Touring also had the creaking noise from the HUD cover. At first, I tried using pieces of a rubber mouse pad under the sides but that didn't last but a day or so . So I went back to basics. I sprayed a couple shots of WD-40 DRY lube in the gap towards the front of the cover and the sides. Didn't really have any overspray but of course I cleaned the lens afterward. I haven't heard anything from there in a week and I live in Florida so it's hot almost year round. Probably not a permanent fix but it's better than having my dash removed. Now if only I could figure out the buzzing rattles that sound like they're coming from the B pillar and rear deck, I'd be in heaven.

Honda should fix this for free. They won’t remove the dash. Instead, they'll use a tire repair tool to install rubber stripping in one corner to stop the squeaking. Their fix worked for me on my 2019 Honda Accord Touring Hybrid, and it has never come back. I’ve attached the service bulletin to this post so you can show it to your dealer.
