I have a 2011 accord sedan, just a couple months old and just the other day when I was cleaning it after the hurricane I found this white spot on the hood. I took it to the dealership today and they told me it was just tree sap then I took it to autozone to see if anyone there knew what it was and the guy said it was probably the paint coming off. Since its labor day weekend, no body shops are open right now, I was wondering if anyone here could tell me what they think it is.

Take a rag and soak it with a light amount of diesel fuel and gently work it into the sap. Diesel works like a charm on tree sap. After you are done, you can wash the area (or the entire car) to remove the diesel odor.

So you think that looks like sap? I've heard of bug and tar remover. If people think it's sap, I might go out and get some to try. I don't even know where I could get diesel fuel just for this, but thanks for the suggestion.

From the pic, it looks like bird poop. Have you tried soaking it with water or quick detailer and see if it comes off?

If it's tree sap, soak it with rubbing alcohol and gently wipe.

I know it's definitely not bird poo. Here's another better picture. I'm starting to think it really is the paint coming off since you can see how the level drops when going from the black to white parts. Unfortunately I have to wait until tomorrow or thurs before I can take it to a body shop. If the body shop says its the paint coming off, I'm gonna try and take it back to the dealership to get fixed under the warranty cause I have no idea how this happened and I know nothing hit the car that could've caused this.

Looks like bird shit, that will eat through your paint too if you don't remove it.

its bird crap, and it wont be covered, as soon as that stuff gets onto your paint, GET IT OFF! I would carry around a small spray bottle in your car just for this. it needs to be repainted.

new cars sitting on lots have to get resprayed often due to this.

There's no way that's bird poo, unless it dried, ate through the paint, then got washed away. But I have a hard time believing that. What are my chances of getting this fixed under warranty? Assuming a body shop says the paint is coming off, the dealership thinks it's just tree sap, and there's no known cause.

wether you like it or not, its bird boob that baked onto the paint, and it won't be covered. It is not the dealers fault.

What about all the white specs everywhere in the first picture? Is that just dirty or areas of missing paint?
Just dirt. Where I live, there's a lot of dirt flying around so it's pretty impossible to have a clean, shiny car for more than a day.

Does anyone know how much on average it costs for some touch up paint?

pay to have it resprayed, touch up will look worse.
I would, but if it's anything near what the scratches on my bumper would cost, I don't have the money for it since I'm still in school. I was told $300 for the scratches on my bumper. And the hood looks a lot worse than my bumper just because of the severity of the one spot. I figure if I could, I'd just touch it up until I graduate then get it repainted.
