I was beginning to like it too.:boohoo: My rotors keep getting warped I have had them shaved under warranty twice. Would getting some after market ones solve the problem? I was looking into tirerack.com

Also, my pads are almost at the end of their life, could they cause the problem as well, or no?

Holy Crap!! 134 dollars to resurface rotors... I am so going with aftermarket slotted ones, and new breaks. Mine are at 25% life. Wow, completely overpriced.

Heh...it's not that easy. Remember a car is a depreciating asset. You're just keep pouring money on your car if you do that. Just get some nice aftermarket rotors and you'll be set. My car has 69k miles on it now so the only warranty I have left is my extended warranty up to 120k miles...which will be expire in about a year (my car is only 2 years old and the warranty is 8 years).

FYI - Brakes are only warranteed for 12mo/12k miles anyways.

Yeah I have my rotors resurfaced at 25 and 30. Now i have 34556. Brembo replacement rotors do sound pretty good, people at tirerack have given them good reviews, I'm gonna go with some of those and Akebono ProACT ceramic pads.

Anybody know what causes the stock front brake setup (non-aftermarket) to shudder. I just had mine replaced because they were shot. I figured given how bad they looked that new (raybestos) pads and rotors would fix the problem. Same issue with the new ones. The shop replaced the rotors again under warranty for the issue, but same thing.

My accord has the same issue, but then again I had jeep GC and an older accord that did it also. I just assumed it was my driving that caused it.

No, definately not my driving style. The brakes they put on did it immediately after installation. Normally does it at highway speeds like you are catching them at a bad place in rotation or something because not every hit on the brake does it.

the problem is the stock brake pads, they overheat easily and leave deposits on the rotors.

i have owned two 7th gen accords now, 2003 and 2007, they both exhibit this problem. Hard driving does make it worse, but even panic stops from highway speeds you can feel it.

on the 2003 i fixed it by replacing both the pads and rotors, problem gone.
on the 2007, i replaced only the pads and problem gone again.

i used hawk pads from tirerack.com
do not ever stock pads again

If you can help it, don't leave your foot on the brake after coming down to a stop from high speed. Yeah it takes some vigilance...if you need to hold the car still (ie on a hill) use the handbrake instead. I reckon this helps to reduce pad deposits.

Personally, I would go to Honda and ask them to try and remedy your ONGOING and DOCUMENTED problem. If your dealer does not remedy it, I'm sure you can call Honda and they usually will help out considering you had this problem under warranty and it was attempted to be fixed but still occurs. You should not foot this bill.

I'm sure you'll see a low of threads on here about the warped rotors, I know mine were resurfaced at about 8k miles. But no problems yet and I'm at 17k.

I got a lot of responses that my driving habits were this & that when I posted about OEM pads & rotors failing @ 20K miles. Now, I see more people are actually posting about their HONDA QUALITY brake hardware not performing up to HONDA QUALITY.

I went with what has proven great since the late 80s. Duralast Gold equipment have lasted from 20K - just under 50K (today) with at least HALF the material still left on the pads... no shudder nor rotor warpage! Good luck with others. I'm keeping mine SIMPLE.

this problem has existed for years.

the stock pads are f-cking garabage.
you guys can complain to honda all you want, but they won't help you.
I know cause i tried.
They've had 5 years to fix and the problem still exists.
Even if they gave you new honda pads and rotors the problem would eventually come back.
you are better off just replacing the pads with something not from honda.

btw if the rotors have been resurfaced i would get new rotors too.
You lose rotor material when they are resurfaced.

Well, I did not replace with Honda pads or rotors, that is the problem. With aftermarket pads and rotors I'm getting the same problem that the original OEM Honda pads and rotors (the shudder).
