Got a wheelskin leather cover for our two cars. Both are Euro Perforated models, black perforated sides and sand non-perforated top and bottom. I installed it into wife's Accord only today.

Looked arround for the best price and - it ended up being Ebay. Bought it there for $24.94 + $9.50 shipping + $6 for Euro Perf model. As I combined shipping (as I bought two) my total was just over $71 for two, shipped. Very fast shipping, excellent product, genuine Wheelskins stuff.

Here's how it looks like installed:

Tips on installation:

- It's not very hard to install, just takes time. Mind you, I never did sewing of any sort really but could do this.
- If you have thin leather gloves - wear them during installation. You want the cover to be tight, so you have to tighten it. Gloves will help with that.
- The waxed thread that you get can take a lot of tightening, just tighten the thing! But be patient; until you figure it out, you will make mistakes, some you can undo, some you'll be too lazy to :)
- If you are buying two tone - start threading at the darker toned part, not the lighter as I did. That's because when you finish, you need to tie beginning and the end together, and if you do it at darker part - the knot will be less visible (on the photo - that is the "inperfection" that you can see right between two lower spokes)

Tomorrow I'll get it on the other car. Oh yeah - I LOVE the feel of it and I love that it's a bit thicker!

Looks good and tight.

I just installed the honda one (ebay for about $25-30) and don't think it's tight enough around the spokes... I can push it down a little over the spoke area.... how hard did you pull on the string when threading it?

I pulled fairly hard, pretty much as anywhere else. My instructions said "tight is right" so I tightened it well. :)

The problem with spokes is that tightening is tricky, true. The waxed thread that came with mine keeps the stitch before the last tight, but on spokes it was a bit hard. I think my spokes are also not 100% tightened, but unless it gets bad during use - I will not bother with it (you can buy a new thread separately from Wheelskins and then redo it).

The 2-tone looks superb with this interior! I want it! Leather wheels are sooo nice to hold. The only reason I've held off is that the Accord wheel already feels fat in my small hands. I've put on leather covers before and assume the Wheelskin probably adds average thickness?

As you state, pulling the lace tight is essential. I felt like I was going to tear thru the leather with the lace, but the results were excellent.

Thanks for posting the Ebay info. You make it very tempting!

Yes, it is definitely thicker. I love it on my car and my wife loves it on the Accord. She is petite with small hands too but said few times already that she loves that it's a bit thicker and feels the wheel is easier to turn with the whell cover on. Hey - if it makes her happy - I am happy...

Well, I re-strung it last night and got it right. To get the oem one (probably a knock-off since I bought it on ebay) I had to drill one more pair of holes at each spoke. I also went through the holes at the edge of the spokes twice so it would stay tight as I moved on.

I emailed wheelskins to see how much they'd charge me for new thread to redo it (turns out I had enough left over from before anyhow) and they said they'd ship me some for free If I bought the cover from them  ! Dang, that's good customer service!

I ordered a wheelskin wheel cover today off Ebay for my '05 LX. Same as what Rookie ordered/installed, except I got the Oak color instead of Sand (a bit darker) and got it perforated all the way around. I looked at my wife's Pilot's steering wheel and it's perforated all around and feels good, so I went that way. I'll try to take a picture once it's installed. Price was the same as quoted - about $40 total for 1 shipped.

Just an FYI, mine was loose at the spokes a bit when I got it (dealer installed it), but after being in the summer heat and cooling off at night it tightened right up. Gotta love leather!

oops

Guess I should have looked at the pilot in the daylight. The factory leather cover is perforated along the sides and bottom, but NOT at the top. Oh, well, I never hold the top of the steering wheel anyway, so I'll just have holes all over my cover. :D

That looks great! =)

I am loving the darn thing... on both cars, it's been a great mod!

redirection....

Well, in an earlier post I stated that I got a 2-tone perforated Wheelskin for my '05 Accord LX with Ivory interior. I did the install, and about 1/2 way thru I noticed that the wheel cover was too wide for the wheel - meaning when you laced it up, there was a large knotting of leather on the stitch area and some "pooching" of the leather on the wheel. This is the first wheelskin install I've done (out of like 7) that there's been a problem like this. So, I returned it to wheelskins as defective and got a refund.

I then got the Factory wheelcover from hondacuraworld.com for $42 and installed it this weekend. Perfect fit, cleaner look due to the lack of stitch holes on the spokes, and the proper size on the stitching. I followed CA05LXDriver's advice and double-stitched at the spokes (didn't need to create any additional holes) and it fit nice and tight - real clean.

so it's black with no perforations, but looks as close to a factory setup as I think i could get without swapping the wheel itself out...
