Anyone have one?
Why bother when you can hook up your mp3 player using the SNHOND3 or Blitzsafe kit? :dunno: It's a simple process that will only set you back about $100. Check the audio section of the forum, there's been plenty of chatter about these options in the past.

Yeah don't get the Honda MP3 player...overpriced plus you lose your storage bin under the radio. SNHOND3, Blitzsafe, USASpec, PIE, even MusicLink are better. Search the forums a bit and you'll find a lot of threads/posts about this...I know I am happy with my USASpec adapter...I used my Creative Labs Zen with it every day to and from work.

Because I'm being told I need 50 different harnesses etc to keep the navi system working properly.

If I don't go factory MP3 player I'm putting my Pioneer unit down there. Losing half that slot is not an issue.

Can anyone with Navi and aux input confirm this? :dunno: I don't recall ever seeing any mention of this problem in the past.

Whoever told you that is wrong...for navi you only need one extra harness...and I've read posts by a few ppl with navi that say you don't even need that (that the harness is actually for maintaining XM and not "because you have navi"). I dont' have navi or XM (live in Canada...our Accords don't come with XM) and litterally I just had to plug in 1 cable to the back/bottom of my head unit to get it all working.

I know this is from a different forum but check it out just for more info:

http://www.v6performance.net/forums/showthread.php?t=73950

Also you can view the instructions for installing MusicLink at the following URL (not navi and a slightly different config as they route cables above and below, but still good as a reference):

http://www.handa-accessories.com/accord/musiclink.pdf

And lastly here is a step by step instructional site (done with pictures) that was posted before on DriveAccord for installing an iPod Blitzsafe adapter:

http://www.beaufordbuddy.com/ipod_install_1.htm

Hope this helps...

Can anyone direct me to the harnesses I need to buy?
Here is a link to one from the place I got my USASpec from:

http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=787

You should be able to find it at other online stores as well...so you can combine it with whatever adapter you decide on (that way you can save on the shipping).

This is for adding an aftermarket head unit as well? It doesn't mention that.

No...this is just the bus connector for the stock headunit in the Accords (and a number of other Hondas), which is used to link "Honda" accessories into the stock system. As far as adding another system, I'm not sure what would be involved, but it defintely would be more complex to say the least.

Basically you would have to bypass the stock system entirely, either leaving it in place and mounting the deck below, or you'll have to buy a HVAC replacement unit to remove the stock deck and place the aftermarket unit there. If you have climate control, you'll loose most of its features this way too from what I have read.

IMO for the 7th gen Accords it just isn't worth it to replace the stock headunit/deck unless you are putting a much much better system in its place (not just for MP3 support).

No you dont. The Blitzsafe has the connector for your Navi built in. So you just unplug the navi from the head unit, plug the Blitzsafe in its place and plug the navi into the Blitzsafe.

Hmm..then thats not going to be as easy thats for sure, esp considering your getting navi. All the installs I have read about have completely replaced or disabled the stock headunit...something you definitely don't want to do if you got navi in your Accord. I'm sure its possible somehow (just split the output to the speakers), but you'll have to search around on this forum and others do see how others went about doing something like this.

Then again (just throwing this out there), if your Pioneer had an RCA output (so a mono left and mono right) you could purchase a non-iPod SNHOND3 or Blitzsafe adapter and just link it in via that. Then all you would have to do is leave the Accord's deck in CDC (CD Changer - its what the adapter uses) mode and route it all through there. Not sure how that would affect your levels however since you would be amping everything multiple times...plus I'm not sure how you would end up powering the deck either :dunno:

I guess I just have to buy the factory MP3 player then.

I do have to agree with Joerockt on this one...I'm not sure of the costs in the US...but here in Canada its around $700ish + 15% tax for the Honda player which only plays MP3 CDs and WMA CDs, whereas a 4GB iPod Nano can be had for around the $299 + 15% mark. Even with the added cost of getting an adapter for the Accord it still works out cheaper and give you access to a much larger song archive.

...And if iPods aren't your "thing" then you can just get a regular line in (aux) adapter and either link in some other MP3 player, portable MP3 CD player, palm, mp3 cellphone, etc and use that instead. I'm not trying to knock your decisions...its just I hate to see people pay what Honda asks for nothing more than a glorified $15 CD-ROM.
