Just purchased a 2014 EXLV6 and when I try and activate the factory XM, I tune to channel 1 and the XM says "loading" then "No Signal". XM is sending the activation signal so it is not on thier side.

I saw another post where it was the shark antenna. Has anyone else troubleshooted this? The dealer wants 125 bucks to take a look at it.

Anyone have photos or diagrams on where the XM Receiver is located and where the antenna connects to it? Any suggestions on how to isolate where the problem is? I ran the diagnostics (where you hold the three buttons down and get into the diagnostics mode) and the XM part passes.

Thanks for any advice,

Rodney

IIRC, there's a thread about XM saying the FM modulator and antenna connections are in the trunk behind the liner on the right side, but that was a Coupe. You can search for that thread.

So you might want to start by unclipping that side of the trunk liner and looking for the connections there. And if not on the right side, look behind the liner on the left side...

Unplug and re-plug those connections securely and test XM again, before you start ripping out parts. :wink

Maybe somebody else knows something more specific...

1. Sedan XM module is in the same spot. Passenger side in the trunk behind the liner.

2. Are you trying to connect to the satellite in your garage? If it isn't a VERY strong signal the activation won't work.

If you are under trees will also cause problems.

One more thing is the activation signal only comes from the satellite, I don't believe the signal is through the terrestrial repeaters. So if you are in a city with lots of tall buildings they could affect the activation too.

I am in the wide open spaces when attempting to connect.

Are there any drawings or videos on how to unclip that trunk area?

Search is your friend. :wink

Here's a thread showing the clips you have to remove to release the trunk liner.

You can put a flat blade screwdriver in the slot to raise the center "pin" up then you should be able to squeeze and pull the clip body out of the hole. Try not to completely separate the pin from the body. Just raise it enough so you can pull the body through the hole.

To reinstall the clips, squeeze and push the body through the hole while the pin is extended. When the body is back in place, push the pin down until it's against the body again.

There are probably other threads on this forum, other forums and maybe youtube too.... :nerd

Are you sure that it has been activated?
Don
OEM-installed XM comes activated with a limited free subscription. Even after the subscription ends you should still be able to tune in to their "main" channel with its endless pleading to subscribe to their wonderful services.

I didn't renew when the free subscription ended in my '16 EX Coupe, but the HU still tunes their main channel if I accidentally select XM from the source options.

Does anyone know if the plug on the end of the XM antenna that is on the roof will plug not only into the cable that runs along the headliner, but directly into the XM radio unit in the trunk? I figure I could purchase a 30 dollar antenna and plug it into the XM unit and isolate at least if it is the antenna before pulling apart the headliner to put a new antenna in.

I took apart the headliner and determined that the factory antenna is indeed plugged in. There was some hail damage that the dealer had repaired and I thought one possibility was that they did not plug back in the antenna when they had the headliner out to repair the hail damage. This rules that out. However, I suspect that if the hailstorm was that bad (there were many dings repaired already when I bought it from the dealer, yet still many dings remain) hail may have hit the antenna and destroyed the circuity within it. Therefore I ordered a factory replacement that should be here in the middle of the week. I left everything still undone so that when it arrives I can just get a 17mm socket and replace it and see if that fixes it.

I ran the XM test in the infotainment headend and it passes with the antenna unplugged, but fails if I have the receiver unplugged, so that test is simply a continuity test for connection with the headend. Hopefully the problem is with the antenna and not the receiver or the wiring harness between the receiver and the antenna.

I have 2014 Honda Accord 2 door I bought a week ago, the XM radio is not connecting and no-one knows why. Sirius trying for hours and saying the signal is sent but vehicle is not receiving it. until this afternoon the introductory sales channel was not working, today it magically came on while driving, I called Sirius and we tried again but nothing. Turned car off and on again and the intro channel not connecting anymore. Could this be a lose wire? Where should I start looking? Thank you
