2019 Honda Accord.. learning about 'my new" car. The increments have been changing at 90, 80, 70, 60, etc. Today it's at 20%. Will the next number be 15% or can I expect 19% 18% etc. THANKS so much. This will be my first oil change as the owner.

Thanks WiiMaster. Can I expect the mileage driven to be approximately the same as it was from 30% to 20%; or does a clock (time frame) have any influence on the change. Thanks again...

Would I have approximately 1/2 the miles before the 15%? I want to be certain to schedule the oil change at 15%

It really depends on how much you drive and the type of driving you do. A lot of factors come into play with the MM oil life indicator.

Did you change the oil when you first got the car so you know you're using new oil from the start? [I'm assuming it's a 'new to you' used car here.]

It's not urgent to do it immediately at 15%.

They changed the oil exactly 12 days before I bought the car at the Honda dealer at 14,596...The car had 14, 598 when I bought it in April 2022. Today it has 18003 miles. . It showed 100% the day I bought it. Today it shows 20%..roughly 3400 miles.

I always change mine at 30%, but my car also will be 17 this year. It's up to you. I do that because I don't burn oil, but I'm sure I might see some oil consumption past 30%.

Well there you have it. The oil minder is useless. Extrapolating off the 3400 miles the oil minder will say your oil is good for roughly 4000 miles. Mobil1 says the oil is good for 10,000 miles.

...or even at 0%. When it gets to 0, that's when you make the appointment to do it, or if you DIY, do it the following weekend as I usually did. By that time, the oil is still good. I know that to be true since I sent a few samples out for analysis at a lab; they always said I could have gone longer.

Based on that info and what I'm seeing on our Honda's, I'd guess you do a lot of short trips in yours vs long, extended drives.

My car is 07 accord. 215,000 Miles. Religiously changing the oil with high mileage synthetic every 2500-3000 miles lol. I don't really go by what the monitor says.

Way overkill. It's your money of course, but you're wasting it. That's akin to changing spark plugs monthly. Yeah, it's not doing any harm, but there's no benefit either aside from lightening your wallet.

I have learned good info here and yes... Practically all my mileage is from short trips. I'm of the advance senior age and not able to change my own car's oil. It's likely the last auto, I'll ever own, so need to take good care. Thanks for the feedback..Appreciated.
