I have a 2009 accord LX and have been trying to figure out this issue for a while. Whenever I’m at lower speeds, if I hold the gas around 1500/1900 rpms I will hear a metallic chatter/shutter/chkchkchkchk noise. If I let off the gas or give it more gas it stops. It does not happen everytime I’m at that RPM range, but it’s almost like there are other factors that allow it to happen. It sounds exactly like the noise you’d get if your car is low on oil and you take a turn, all of the oil goes to one side and you can hear a low oil noise. That is the noise. My car is not low on oil.

I cannot replicate this when the car is in park. It only happens in drive.

The noise comes from directly in front/ under driver. Has anyone experienced this before?

Something is loose I guess

You may be hearing pinging with the fuel system. I've had this before in other vehicles under light acceleration or cruising at low rpms.

Maybe try a fuel system cleaner. BG44K is the best fuel cleaner I've used. Some people have luck with Techron from a parts store. You have to search online for BG44K. It is not sold in stores.

If you don't find anything loose and rattling, some fuel cleaner may be worth a shot to fix it.

To me I feel like if something was loose it wouldn’t just be at that certain RPM, then letting off gas or giving it gas makes it stop. I will check underneath for anything loose.
Certain RPM give off vibration in certain frequencies that causes rattle that otherwise wouldn't be very audible.

A video clip could help us see what it actually sounds like. Upload to Youtube then post link here

I will give this a shot. Thank you

Many dealerships use BG products and will sell at parts counter if you inquire. I got some from Toyota and Infiniti dealerships in the past. Independent shop by me sold it for same price I could find on eBay/Amazon so I bought some from him a while ago.

After years of Techron use with no noticeable difference, one round of BG44k actually made a difference I could feel and document with MPG in my Corolla but that was more from one injectors IMO. It had no ping/detonation issues.

Even though it's more tedious, if it's from carbon on top of pistons, a Berryman piston soak may help get rid of that. It may also help free rings up if you have oil burning issues.

On my old Ford Explorer I had some very annoying ping pre detonation. My shop did a before after borescope and did a BG decarbonizing. That helped a bunch but an additional contributor was my K&N drop in panel air filter. The MAF on the Explorer was not able to read the added air flow causing a lean condition triggered easier by the carbon. Shop put a new paper OEM back in, I tried the K&N again to confirm and even after the BG procedure I got light pre ignition ping again so stuck with factory version after that.
