So I bought my Accord Hybrid (Touring) back in July 2022. After a few months my phone (iPhone 14 Pro Max) failed to connect to my car wirelessly, and using a cord would not connect either to Carplay. I take it in to a local dealership and, after much hoop jumping, they replace the whole audio system under the warranty. Six months or so pass and low and behold the problem arises again.

After conversations with a certified Honda Mechanic I know and trust, they told me the easiest fix is to disconnect the battery and basically reset the car's system that way. That worked, for about a month, but now I've had to do it three times in the past month.

Anyone else have this issue and got any solutions?

(Note: I've done all the basic steps recommended by both Honda and Apple with zero success).

I had a somewhat similar issue and I posted about it here. I hate wireless CarPlay and have found it to be unreliable in both our Accord and our new Bolt EUV at least some of the time. I've also found wired CarPlay to be less than 100% reliable in both vehicles with stock entertainment systems. Interestingly enough, the after market CarPlay unit I had installed in our old Kia Sorento worked (wired only) 100% of them time - literally never had an issue.

My Accord's unit stopped charging my iPhone 13 Pro, and after replacing the USB port (made no difference), the dealer replaced the entire unit in September 2022. Wireless continues to be hit or miss, and frankly, so does wired. It was especially bad over the holidays.

I try to make a habit of starting the car with my iPhone unplugged, then waiting until I've pulled out of the house and am at the stop sign at the end of our street before I connect the cable. If I connect it sooner, or heaven forbid, before I start the car, I'd say it's a coin flip as to it either working or me getting some message about the SmartPhone Connection Service failing, then maybe the entire UI of the entertainment center failing. But then I forget about that when I'm at a gas station, and I get back in the car with the phone connected and it works almost every time.

Basically, as much as I depend on CarPlay, I hate how it works in our 2022 Accord Hybrid. I've tried different cables. I've tried powering the car off and on. It's just not reliable. I'd give CarPlay in the Accord a C at best. The Bolt EUV a B. And my (now traded in) aftermarket unit in the Sorento an A+.

Similar to as you mentioned, my wife's 2019 Fit's Carplay (wired only) works 100% of the time for both our phones and connects instantly when the cord is plugged in. My old 2017 Civic SI had zero problems with Carplay (wired only) as well and I've not heard complaints from either my my parents who both drive a different newer models of Honda so it led me to wonder if I got a strange dud off the assembly line with my vehicle.

At least on the Accord side, most of my problems with wired CarPlay seem to be related to whatever is running at a lower level in the entertainment system. I guess but don't know for sure it is something like Android Automotive, which I've read is more of an operating system on which mirroring systems like CarPlay and Android Auto run. Wireless CarPlay's issues I place more at Apple's feet for whatever weird Bluetooth/WiFi magic they're doing.

Normally I reboot the phone and try again. If that doesn't work I restart the car. One of those two things normally work on my 2021 HAH. If not I try again the next day and it connects. Finicky sometimes.

I bought my 2022 Accord Hybrid in October of that year. I have had issues with CarPlay not connecting wirelessly since the start but it has become much worse. I have had an iPhone 14 and now 15. Not sure if it has anything to do with the phone, though. Now, even when I use a USB to plug it in directly, it often still doesn't connect. It may connect 30 seconds into starting the car (which rarely ever happens), 10 minutes in when I'm just about to turn it off to go into the store, or may never connect on my 1 hour commute between work. I try to toggle and force the connection by selecting the device from the smartphone connection widget, but that never seems to do anything and says it cannot connect or can't find a phone to connect to. It's a first-world problem, I know... but sure is frustrating when it will not connect like it's supposed to.

Yep, 2021 hybrid owner and experience the same exact issues you describe and have tried the same remedies. Sometimes it will go several weeks and work perfect and other times it will go several weeks where it is super finicky like you mention. For reference was this way with iPhone 12 and now same with 15

I’ve had a problem with screens jumping from one thing to another. I’ll be listening to Sirius xm then it switches to fm, then maybe the clock screen pops up, then it goes to apple car play with my phone contacts, then back to fm! I powered off the audio because this became so distracting while driving and it powered back on!!! I turned off the blue tooth on my iPhone so my phone wouldn’t connect and that fixed the “screen jumping “ issue. I had this problem all last summer and it stopped in the fall once the weather cooled down into the 60s and 70s. My Honda dealer replaced my roof antenna thinking that was the problem. It worked fine all winter long and into late April. Then the problem started up again when the temperature was only into the 50s!!! So it’s not solely related to 80-90 degree summer heat as I originally thought! So for now I am keeping the blue tooth turned off so I can listen to uninterrupted Sirius xm music! My dealership seems to be quite clueless on the matter
