7.5 Gen V6 6MT Coupe

I recieved and installed an android head unit for Christmas (I'll link it at the bottom of the post). The head unit is good and I had to not use the green adapter since I have dual zone controls. But I've noticed 2 things

1. At lower fan speeds I can hear a clicking type noise (I thought it might be the damper flipping back and forth) I know it's not the fan since the tempo doesn't change in correspondence with fan speed

2. It will blow on the winshield directly, or winshield and feet, but it doesn't seem to blow only on feet or only on face...

Any ideas?

Android radio:

I can’t view your link as I’m not in Canada. What brand and model unit did you get?

Update: the clicking noise (which sounds kind of like a clock at about 400BPM) only happens when the unit is trying to command some air to the face pointing vents

If you have any idea let me know

Sounds like the mode motor or the blend motors are failing. They make a rattling noise when the car is on.

i reinstalled the original head unit and the mode motor did switch modes. just not with the aftermarket radio. Im working with customer service and they sent me a new dash kit which did not help...

Alright so im digging into this again!

The Company has stopped responding to my messages.

Summary:
  • I installed an AWESAFE Android Radio (With Climate Controlls) from amazon in my 06 Accord (With dual Climate)
  • I am not using the "Y" cable since it is dual climate

- All radio/screen functions work correctly

  • A/C Works
  • Dual Temp Works
  • Fan Speed Works
  • Rear Defrost Works
  • Auto seems to work...

- Vent Mode is stuck on Windshield and feet.
- With Original Radio, problem does not exist.
- Screen shows a change in vent mode but the mode doesnt actually change.

I do not believe that the "CAN BUS SETTINGS" has anything to do with this.

My thought was that maybe the Controller on the aftermarket radio was not strong enough to drive the motor but i unplugged the harness and measured voltages and compared them with the stock radio and they look the same. This wouldnt address my concern on power output but i got 5V on pins 2,3,4,5. 0V on 9. 12V on 10. This is using 1 as GND Reference.

If you have any thoughts or ideas PLEASE Let me know.

I don't think these Chinese android units are well made. What type of OEM radio did you have? I installed a similar unit and the front speakers do not come on. It is not a balance issue as I found that adjustment screen and the balance is set to the middle. If I move the balance to the front the sound is gone. Only the back speakers produce sound. I chose the most appropriate CANBUS that allowed for the rest of the controls to work correctly such as dual climate. I tried several different CANBUS options and none produced sound to the front speakers, so I think it's a hardware issue. I'm stumped at the moment. The original equipment is dual climate, 6 cd changer, premium sound, XM radio capable, no navigation. My 06 Accord was manufactured in the US. There are two cables that have nowhere to plug into the android, which are the gray plug to power to the six cd changer and the white AUX or XM radio plug. I didn't think they were required for these Android head units, but maybe some rewiring needs to be done. I'm still searching for a pinout diagram of the blue, gray, and white plugs.

I had the same head unit. On your old head unit there is a black box with a connector and 4 screws. That is required for the front speakers to work. I figured that out just by seeing an extra connector and saying oh what the hell maybe this will fix it. And it did. Still haven't figured out the vent mode thing but I took off the motor and change the vent mode with my fingers for now.

Hi Ben. Thanks for getting back to me. So, you physically removed the black box from the OEM radio and somehow linked it to the chinese android unit? Can you please tell me exactly what you did? Only one of the supplied wiring harnesses from the chinese android unit connects to the OEM radio loom and that is the blue connector harness that connects directly to the OEM blue radio connector on the loom. There are no supplied mating connectors for the OEM white AUX/XM connector and the OEM grey radio connector. A chinese AUX harness was supplied, but I assumed that was for aftermarket amps/subwoofers. These android units are supposed to be plug and play with the exception of changing the CANBUS to match your particular vehicle as Accords around the world are made differently.

Changing the CANBUS setting may resolve your issue. My dual climate controls all work fine. Go to Settings, Factory (you may need to enter a code, which may be all zeros or 8888 by default. Just fill the bar with zeros) CarType settings, and then there will be a list of CANBUSs to choose from on the left. I chose Dogen>Honda>HONDA_A01, which enabled the dual climate controls in the climate control screen. The dual climate controls did not initially work by default.

Here are some pics of the OEM and chinese android units as well as the loom

My issue is resolved. I forgot to update this thread. What Ben meant was that the black box on the oem unit needs to be removed and plugged into the gray connector. That's it. That little black box is a stand alone unit and you'll simply have to tuck it away in the cavity where the head unit is installed. There is plenty of room back there and cable management ties were necessary in my case as the aftermarket wiring harness prevented the head unit from sitting in position correctly. Hope this helps someone else out!

Had this same exact issue, just made an account let people know I figured it out. Basically the issue is the potentiometers inside the actuators. There's little pins inside and over time these start to make worse contact with the pads resulting in a worse signal. The stock head unit is able to parse this signal but the aftermarket ones can't. Though once the signal gets bad enough the stock head will also start to do this. There's two ways to fix this. For the drivers side blend motor, mode select motor, and re-circulation motor, you can open them up and clean off the pads, bend the pins back up slightly, re-grease with some dielectric then put them back together. These should then work good as new. For the passenger side blender motor the main gear doesn't detach as it does with the other actuators. As such you can try to clean it and it might work better, but since you can't bend the pins up it seems to not be very reliable. However, you can also just buy a replacement on amazon for 20 bucks. In fact you could replace all of them if you'd like. But I opted to save the money and fix all.
