The valet key fell between the seat and center console and I think it slid under one of the metal rails that allows the seat to slide backwards and forwards.

I looked under the seat but I can't see much. It looks like wires and stuff for the airbag occupancy sensors.

Any way to get the key out without unbolting the front seat?

Slide seat all the way back and forward (if not done already) to help see it. When all the way forward you can run your finger under the rail and maybe fish it out. The seat is not hard to remove and a good time to vacuum out all the other stuff that has fallen over the years.

I managed to get the key out. I took a strip of cardboard and used it to push the key out from under the rail. The key ended up falling below the front passenger seat. I then slid the passenger seat all the way forward like you suggested and the key was right there!

Thanks for your help :)

I always dropped my mp3-player's rechargeable AAA batteries, pens, breath-mint tins, or my cigar-cutter/lighter in that area. After bruising enough knuckles & hyper-extending enough fingers trying to get 'em out, I now just keep around a pocket-sized telescoping magnet (came w/ my screw-driver set) stashed in a bin.

This is a great site, but sometimes the level of helplessness just amazes me. Sorry, but I've just been wading through a lot of junk posts and this one was up there with the best of em.

You kind of missed the point that he had to do this in order to pick the key up:

I don't think it was 'helplessness' at all, e.g. NOT a junk post.

Anywho- I always seem to drop my last quarter down between the seats when I need to feed a meter on my college campus. I've had many battle wounds to my hand trying to get them out!

Recently there was a thread about some product that fills in that open gap between the seat and the center console, may want to consider that in the future, despite how hedious that thing looked.

when i bought my accord used, i literally found 10+ pens throughout the interior in cracks, mainly between center console and seats. some of them were even in the crevice that the buckle goes down to. all it takes is a little patience, a lot of persistence, and reaching from every angle to get those things out.

Dude don't get it. That thing just makes us look like gluttonous fat americans who can't keep from losing our french fries between the seats.
