Has anyone else had key fob problems?Mine is hit and miss sometimes works right other times not at all(tapping it against something makes it work...sometimes)It is APITA with a car with no trunk lock and only one key lock on the car(frozen)I could put my fist through the window today...arrhhh!The batteries can't be done yet?A friend at the dealer said Honda is working on it but who knows?

Sounds like a possible poor/bad connection within the fob, could be dirty contacts on the battery which can be addressed by opening the fob and clean the battery contacts, it's also possible there is a bad solder joint on the circuit board of the fob, which will be very difficult to isolate.

I suggest you raise this with your dealership, that's why you have a 3 year bumper-to-bumper warranty!

My key fob is horrible too. The range is maybe five feet and the lock button is, like you said, hit or miss. I will be taking it in and have the dealer look at it my next oil change.

I have the same problem it's hit or miss, I can be standing 50 feet away and it will work fine or 6 inches and nothing. Of course it worked perfectly when I took it to the doctor.

I had the same problem with my 09 accord remote, and so did my buddy with his 08 accord remote. All you need to do is open it up, clean the battery and the contacts, you will most likely see some black deposit on the battery. I just used a paper towel and after assembling it back it has worked for the past few months perfectly (for my buddy as well). Responds after the first click and works from far away everytime. Good luck.

If that doesn't fix it, then I would take it to the dealership.

Hi OP. I had the same issue last winter. I thought the battery was dying, but replacing it with new batteries didn't help. I finally took it to my dealer to see what was wrong and it was diagnosed that the "brain" (chip) of the fob was faulty. Dealer gave me a brand new one under warranty and programmed it for me as well. I didn't have to pay anything. Just had to wait 2 days for the part to come in but now I have a brand new fully functioning (every click i press!) keyfob.

Thanks for the info.Did the battery trick and it seems be working better.Honda and every other manufacture is guilty of doing same dumb thing removing key holes on cars.

I think the fuild is a electrical grease.

There is a TSB on this, pretty much just remove the battery and clean it off, they put too much grease on them during the assembly process.

I think because the key fob is so flexible and after so many twisted and turned, the battery inside got lose contact. My 09's Accord got the same problem, I just open up the fob and re-arrange the battery and put it back again. Its work for a couple weeks and then same old things happens again. (Noticed how flimsy the fob is when you turn on the ignition! If I was more careful when grab and turn the fob then its last a little longer before the problem recurring) this is HONDA's BAD KEY FOB DESIGNED, the fob needed to be more solid to handle daily used.

I had the same problem with mine, i replaced my batteries (amazon special of course) and my remotes work 100Xs better, much better range and work on the first click instead of the 7th or 8th. I had a hell of the time getting the screw out so i ended up prying (carefully) the fob apart with the screw in it and it worked.

2010 Honda Accord Fob issues

Here's what I saw.
All tests during 2012-12 winter
Trial #1: Drive around for a short while. Park the car and try using the fob to lock/open boot. It doesn't work.
Got the battery replaced.
Trail #2: Try locking/unlocking - Worked.
Trial #3: Drive around for a short while. Park the car and try using the fob to lock/open boot. It doesn't work.:dunno:
Trial #4: Keep the second fob handy. Drive around for a short while. Park the car and try using the second fob to lock/open trunk. It always works.
Trial #5: Use the valet key instead of the one with fob. Drive around for a short while. Park the car and try using the fob to lock/open boot. It worked.:notworthy
Trial #6: Use the valet key instead of the one with fob. Drive around for a short while. Park the car and try using the fob to lock/open boot. The second time, it didn't work!:dunno:

Conclusion: Both fobs :thumbsdow

My fob randomly decided not to work for a while this morning after I parked it at church. I got out of the car, pushed the lock button, and nothing. I pushed it again. Nothing. I must've pressed it 10 times and nothing happened. I finally just used the damn key to lock it, something I haven't had to do since my first car which didn't have keyless entry. Got back to the car less than 2 hours later, and the fob worked on the first try

Oh yeah, it locked on the first try when I got home, too. I guess it is 2 years old. Probably time for a new battery, which I won't bother with since I'm hoping to trade the car in next week. I hope...

Had same issues as AccordAdmin and TH23, even after replacing the batteries in the remote module. Took it to the Dealer, they ended up replacing the whole key since my case was broken as well. It was all covered under warranty (TSB 09-099).

I actually had a similar issue and tried everything until I finally unplugged my obd2 Bluetooth plug-in that I use for my android torque app. This did the trick for me. Idk why this had an adverse affect, but it did
