Seeing as how the honda sensing square on the front grille is where I would normally expect the front license plate to be, does anyone know it'll probably be placed? I feel like it would look pretty awkward just above the honda sensing panel and just below the chrome H. Would put it about square middle of the grille

I would do JDM style and just put it on the bottom left or right corner if I was still living in SoCal and had the 9.5GA or 10GA. Or I would not even bother putting it on as it would block the sensing thing.

Wow, and to think people thought Honda intended to leave the radiator unprotected. They knew people were going to put up license plates as protection, so why spend an extra couple bucks to protect it from the factory?

There are dozens of Honda dealer videos on YouTube showing where the front plate is.

As I just posted in the 10th Gen Accord News thread, the '18 Sport 1.5T that I saw at the dealer today had its front plate mounted so the bottom of the plate was barely above the top of the Sensing unit. Had to bend down to see the unit below the plate.

Makes me wonder if there will be any reflections off the back of the plate into the sensing unit...?

Honda has a front plate base part number. It mounts directly above the sensing unit. Not certain but I imagine there are dimples in the front bumper for the self tapping screws. I suppose you could mount it offset (like Ford F-150 ecoboost) if the dealer didn't already mount the base plate.

Or just run without a front plate...
Depends on where you live.

British Columbia in Canada requires front and rear plates and will give you two when you register.

Alberta doesn't and only gives you one.

Yep they gave me one in Washington too. But it’s sitting in my trunk. Last time I got pulled over, the cop just said “you need to have your plate on” and left it at that along with the verbal warning to slow down. Worst case, I’ll get a “fix it” ticket for $100 from a cop who’s having a bad day and wants to sock it to a guy. Fine by me. I’ll pay the $100. Front plates are ugly and don’t really serve any purpose other than revenue generation.

You won't get away with that in California...
It's funny, I'm from San Diego originally. I've driven a car in California for 21 years without a front plate and I was never stopped, not once.

Damn, I was pulled six times for it over the course about of about two years in Virginia. Three were local county cops, three were state troopers. Two warnings, four $100 tickets. After the fourth ticket, I decided it was no longer worth the hassle, expense, and the feeling of paranoia every time I passed a cop.

I got stopped here in No-CAL when I first bought my '16 Coupe because I didn't have a front plate. Didn't matter that I also didn't have a rear plate since the car was brand new. The CHPpy was parked on the shoulder of the road and he waved me over before he even could see there was no rear plate.

He let me go, quote: "This time..."

Must have been a really slow day on the freeway! :0

I'm also from San Diego too, but we had front plates on all the time, as parents were still considered legal immigrants at the time. However, in PA, DE, and FL (as I know of), front plates are not required at all. So I am not sure why Honda is going in this direction at all. It is worth it to put a couple of bucks to cover the dang thing, as not ALL 50 states in the country require both the front and rear plates. I'd bet someone will have a DIY solution for the 10GA owners who live in a state where the front plate isn't required.

Well, gee, maybe, possibly, perhaps they'll just DIY...a front license plate, even if it's not required.

Cover what? The radar sensor?

In those states that don't require a front license plate, I hope the dealers are not making holes in the grill by unnecessarily installing the front plate mount simply to advertise their business.

Oh, they probably are. My friend just got a used car in very nice condition, with a big ol' dealership plate and holder in the front bumper. In Pennsylvania. >.> If I had to take a guess that probably wasn't there when the car was new... That or it was originally a NJ car and they had to put something there to hide the terribly crooked holes someone drilled in it. I'm sure the projected revenue they have for that free advertisement is greater than the 10 minutes it takes to install that ad on the front of the car. Around where I live, there's a certain dealership that's notoriously annoying with their commercials. They also put huge vinyl decals on every car's back window advertising their website, in bright annoying colors. If someone buys a car from them, they'll actually take a few hundred off the price if you leave the ad there on the back window for a year, or whatever. (Don't ask about how they know you won't just scrape it off the moment you get home lol.)

The front plate holes in my Accord's original bumper (had NJ plates), one was drilled at an upward angle, and the other side at a downward angle. And it was the same on the rear plate area. So I was glad when I got my new bumper, and it had no holes in it. And I dread any time I have to do anything regarding the rear plate because getting out/putting in those screws are a royal PITA.

The front license plate holder of my 6th gen was installed without any drilling, by way of a mounting plate, clips & bolts as detailed below. I don't see why the new 10th gen couldn't use a similar mounting design (sans drilling).

There is actually a mounting plate that comes with two clips and screws. The clips slide into a specific spot inside the front bumper grill, then the mounting plate slides over the clips, and everything is held together with a pair bolts. The license plate then is held in place to the mounting plate via screws.

I'd pull up PN for you, but I'm at work and my boss is looking at my direction, lol.
