I recently purchased some Cooper Ultra Touring tires for my 2013 Accord sport, and the strangest thing, on newly paved roads I hear noise coming from the tires, almost like a flat tire sound, but not really from any specific tire. On roads that aren't recently paved the tires sound fine. Anyone have something like that happen before? I had the place that installed the tires check them out, nothing obvious, they rotated the tires, but still the same noise... and after 1000 miles on the tires, they still have that noise.

So what would you do, swap the tires out for a different brand or just deal with it, hoping it goes away?

Weird. Is it just a noise, or does it also feel like you have a flat tire? If it's only a sound, it might be the newly paved road making that noise. When they paved the road leading up to my parents' house, for a few months I'd hear this high pitched howling sound when driving on the new pavement at about 45 MPH. But we figured out pretty quickly it was the road and not the car, because it happened with different cars.

Did the place you bought the tires from recommend an alignment after installing the new tires? You can check Tire Rack or other tire websites and look at reviews, maybe see if this is an issue with that particular tire.

Sounds like the new road surface and the new tires attracting to the un-dried sticky asphalt. if you don't get that flapy sound on old road, then you should be okay. It is like when you walk your new shoes on the new mopped floor.

There are road test areas around the country whereby federal, state, and county road crews build different types of roads for a section at a time to monitor their longevity and performance. One section near me has 4 different types of road construction within one mile- so I always turn off the radio and listen to the different pitches.

Easy to do when you have an Accord because there is like NO sound insulation in that thing!

An Accord is an airtight space ship compared to either of the GM cars I have :lmao:

Well the road was paved like 6 weeks ago, so its not brand new (sticky) asphalt... it does seem like just noise, although maybe there's a little increased vibration. There is also some other newly paved road around town, where it still makes a noise, but not as prominent as the road near where I work. It's just unfortunate that the last mile leading into work (and then leaving work) has this annoyance...

The tire place didn't mention needing an alignment.... and the previous tires, the original primacy ones, I didn't seem to notice any noise, although I'm sure I'm focusing more on listening because these are brand new.

I'm guessing it's the road then, not your tires.

Different tires. Different tread patterns. Old vs new read depth differences. All = Different feel over some road surfaces and different acoustics.
