I installed a (used) TSX intake manifold/throttle body and now I am having an issue where the car almost dies when hitting the gas more than a little bit from a stop. If I take off gently it has no issue but if I give it a fair amount of gas from a stop it almost stalls and then accelerates. I did install a short ram intake at the same time but ruled it out as the issue persisted with the factory airbox. I did connect the small vacuum line the the back of the manifold.
I have disconnected the battery, done the idle relearn twice, took the manifold back off and cleaned the mating surfaces, checked for vacuum leaks with starting fluid, and tried some random Honda TB relearn but nothing has worked so far. I am away from the vehicle until tomorrow but ill check the live data for AFR and fuel trim, see if its spiking lean or if something else is weird there.
Should I just keep driving it and see if it gets better? It seems to not be as bad after some driving but still very much there. I know the ECU adjusts itself but this seems like too big of an issue to compensate for. I put about 10-15 miles on it after disconnecting the battery, I will drive it more tomorrow night and see if it continues to improve. Is there some sort of specific throttle body procedure I need to do? The one I did was just found in a google search.
I gotta say the torque increase is fantastic, you can actually accelerate fairly quickly under 2k rpm and it doesn't work nearly as hard at medium throttle to reach highway speeds. Its almost silent under normal acceleration but is pretty loud when flooring it. I just wish it didn't almost stall every time I take off from a stop.
Edit: The short ram intake was the majority of the issue. It sent the long term fuel trim to 18% and would spike to 22:1 when you stabbed the gas. I (regretfully) removed it and its much better now. Still does it a bit but not bad. Dont buy cheap ebay parts.
