2013 V6 Sedan:

I have taken a few road trips lately. I have noticed a faint whistle or a faint high pitched whine when I am cruising at highway speeds and lightly increase engine RPMs.

The noise starts about 2100 RPMs and goes away at about 2400 RPMs. Above 2400 RPMs it sounds like normal engine acceleration.

I do not hear it at all if I accelerate hard like if I am going to pass another car.

Do you know what this sound could be?

Hmmm, mine makes a whistling sound but only when the engine is at high rpm and I'm backing off the throttle. Like if I go full-throttle up to 50 and then ease off as the car tops out 2nd gear it'll whistle a bit before shifting into 3rd. I think it's just the sound of the throttle body pulling in air quickly through a small opening. Not sure what could cause a whistling sound at lower revs though...

I had the same exact issue with my 2013 EX-L V6 two days after driving it off the lot. Six trips to the dealer later, and a ton of calls, and I find out it was the Active Cylinder Management (ACM) module that needed to be replaced. The whine is when three of the cylinders are being shut off to improve fuel economy. I bought a '15 about a year ago and THAT issue was gone. I've still had issues with the new car, but that's beside the point. Hopefully this helps.

Hi,

I've got the same symptom with my 2016 Accord V6 AT. Brought it in my dealer couple months to investigate, and the technician said it was normal because he heard the same high pitched sound when testing with another V6 car in the lot.

I can hear this faint high pitched at lower gears (1-3) shortly, and it is more noticeable at above 65 mph or about 2000-2400 rpm as "kwaichang" described above. I will bring my car back to the deal soon and keep you guys posted.

Any update on this?
My '16 V6 Coupe has been doing what I believe is the same thing- almost sounds like a squeaky belt (for two seconds) at times. It doesn't happen all the time, or I don't catch it every time, but it has been driving me insane...would be nice to know if it's indeed a problem or a normal characteristic.

Since you did not mention it, I will assume this is not the issue, but do you have a Short Ram Intake or K&N drop in? Those cause low end whistle.
