Although neither are good looking cars, this one's actually better looking than the '23 US version.

It does look nicer than the US version, but it has zero originality.

Front looks like Merceds as mentioned, the rear looks like it’s a model 3.

Swap out the grill and I'd be on board. Looks miles better than our 11th gen.

In the past, the foreign makes cannot directly setup a domestic factory in China due to their policies. They’ll need to jointly own the factory (50:50 stock) with a Chinese manufacturer. Some larger brand want to reduce the risks of doing and increase the competition (in case the Chinese part went bankruptcy or producing shitty vehicle by monopoly etc), they choose to work with two manufacturers but sometimes given identical cars to both with different styling. Shanghai VW’s Jetta and FAW VW’s Sagitar are basically the same car underneath with a different name.

Honda also have two subsidiary in China, they are: Dongfeng Honda and Guangzhou Honda. Traditionally, the US Accord was given to Guangzhou, along with the Accord nameplate. European Accord was given to Dongfeng, with a different nameplate Spirior(思铂睿). The European Accord went dead on the 10th gen so they start to manufacture US Accord instead, and call it Inspire (英诗派).

It is priced a bit lower than the Accord. Not because the car is worse or anything, but the Accord name is simply too famous. It’s hard not to buy the Accord if it costs the same as the inspire, better resale value too.

While I don’t have any evidence against their current vehicle, Dongfeng Honda has quite bad reputation in the past. Their 10th gen Civic performs terribly in the Insurance Automobile Safety Index (Chinese equivalent of IIHS) 25% overlap crash test, and B-pillar was completely snapped in the side crash test, so apparently high-tensile steel cost more than their customer’s life. While the Accord manufactured by Guangzhou Honda get the same result in IASI as IIHS. The oil dilution problem for their Civic and CR-V was also handled poorly, public relation disaster. As a comparison, the Accord with the same engine was quickly recalled and have the problem solved by updated ECM software.

I guess Dongfeng being a state-owned company doesn’t really care since they can still make money from military vehicle orders…

Sadly, all cars -- well many cars -- are beginning to look alike. Even cheap cars like the Korean brands.
