I need a few 12ft 1x6 boards for my deck. Instead of renting a truck, can 7th gen handle it? With the passenger seat down, I have no problem to fit an 8-ft board, not sure about 12ft.

I've done it in my 8th gen and the Camry. It won't all fit within the car though. I think I had 2ft of it sticking out of the back. Probably a few more inches in the 7th gen.

There is an opening to the trunk on the back seat. Could this work? Put the lumber through the opening, while the other end sticks out of the car from the sun roof.

I don't think the pass through is large enough. Nor is the angle up to the sun roof. We just had the lumber laying on the front arm rest when the rear seat folded down (covered with a towel of course) and had a large ratchet strap in front of it to prevent it from sliding into the center console in case of a hard braking.

10 ft was max from windshield to trunk at a slight angle. Let the pieces hang out the trunk, ratchet it down, add a red flag to the piece stick out of trunk. I'd tie down the trunk lid so it doesnt bounce.

Else if you must use sunroof, how about from the passenger floor thru the sunroof and ratchet if not traveling far and and fast.

I'm all about saving money but you can rent a truck from either or those big box stores for like $19 and they don't even care if you refill it with gas.

Why hassle with tying things down, tow flags, possibly messing up your car, and looking like a straight up ******* over $19?

Not every store (location) has them

Sad to say but yep I've done this a few times even with 4x4s. Put a towel on the dash and center console, slide the boards in through the slot in backseat. Bungie cord the trunk lid down and tie a flag to the end of the boards.

In my 1995 Accord, and probably my 1987 Accord, I would run the lumber through the back trunk, with the seat laying all the way down, and set the other end on the dash! Worked like a charm for just a couple pieces....

I'm also cheap (at times), but I'd go with a different route too.

Like borrowing an SUV from someone you know. It's situations like this that makes me glad not everyone is a sedan guy lol.

Your car is not for hauling lumber. Period.
Never, ever, ever try to tell me what my car is for. You don't know me and cannot even begin to imagine what I might want to use it for.

And ya OP, I'd slap a 12 footer in there not problem. What's 4 ft and what's a couple 1x6s?

The only question I have is "what purpose does a 1x6 serve on a deck? I can't even imagine what you might be doing with them.
