I cam over from VWs the last 15 years and Loving the accord with a couple exceptions. One being the cup holders!

the germans make great cup holders lol.

In all seriousness can anyone recommend a small holder insert? I drink coffees and red bull frequently and they spill as the holder is way too big.

Thanks in advance

You have got the be kidding, the Audi Cup holders are my main complaint in my A4, the armrest covers the rear cupholder so if you have 2 drinks you have to "lift the armrest like a drawbridge" and drive with it like that. My parents hated the cup holder so bad in there 2012 A4, they got rid of the car. (something about them not holding supersize drinks from fast food places)

Have you tried shoving TWO cans in the holder for support? For such a seemingly small feature, cup holders are pretty important on a daily basis. If you got it in manual, you'd have a bucket with two holders at the bottom. This is the only car that I've ever had that'll accommodate a 1L Nalgene bottle. I hope you find a reasonable solution.

So this forum is helpful or no? Looking like no. Go live in GTis for 15 years. the cup holder in the MK6 & 7 were great.

my red bull can isnt even held in place... thats what im talking about. does anyone know of an insert to aid in this?

Been there done that. The cup holders did not hold any types of big drinks period. In any of my VW's or Audis. Drove them for 20 plus years. PITB!

Love when people say someone isnt helpful when the time it takes to type that you could have done a simple google search and found numerous products that fit your requirements.

I'd vote for a foam koozie, cheap, won't scratch the cup holder, comes in various colors, etc... I use one in my '16 Coupe.

If you want to go "high tech" (expensive), you could get a Weathertech cupfone holder which comes with various size inserts and maybe use one of them for your small cans...

This is the first time I've every heard anyone say that a German car had superior cupholders... although the OP did have a 'lol' after saying it, so maybe they were being sarcastic?

Have you tried using the cupholder in the door? Perhaps you could shove a few dark-colored plastic garbage bags (recycle!) into one of the front door pockets and that would help keep it in place- and it would be mostly out-of sight when not in use.

As has already been pointed out - try google searching something like red bull can adapter cup holder...
Alternatively, you could also take some measurements (or the can) and go to a hardware store and look for some PVC (or whatever material) pipe with your desired inner/outer diameters..
OR, you could go low cost/tech and make a good enough adapter with some cardboard and duct tape...

x2! Make your own custom one.

x100 on German car cup holders bringing the suck. Seriously, 7 itty bitty moving parts when 2 simple parts would do the same trick? All to hold a 12 oz can. Hated the ones in my A6.

Seriously I thought I was the only one, so nice I have some backup on how bad the cupholders suck in Audi/VW. Not sure about Mercedes or BMW however...

I get what the OP is saying, but a foam Coozy would be my go-to route. Or what Easymike posted looks like a winner too, had to LOL at that they say "even holds Mixed drinks" Thats what we need in our cupholders. o_O

Mercedes and bmw are fine.

I'll try to be helpful and say that energy drinks are wildly unhealthy and are linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, and tooth decay. You'd do well to just stick to coffee.

I drink far too many Monsters and Bangs... :( These days, though, seems like it's getting harder and harder to find something that isn't bad for you in some way... lol Fwiw, I remember running around the neighborhood as kids and drinking out of whomever's garden hose was closest whenever we got thirsty... :D

I think the most over-engineered (yet still rather crappy) cupholder award should go to Mercedes for the ones that they used in late 90s E-Class and CLK models. The dang things unfolded like a transformer at the touch of a little metal button... and then broke under even modest pressure. As you said, tons of little moving parts when a simple design would have worked much better.

Are they though? I don’t drink in a vehicle and have never used a cup holder except occasionally to stow a phone.
