I actually bought mine brand new in August of 2002 (2002 Honda Accord LX Coupe). I paid 16,500 before tax, title and license. From 09-15 my sister owned the car, and I bought it back from her for next to nothing in December of 2015.

If I could turn back the clock I would have bought a manual instead of an automatic and would have preferred silver over Taffeta White, but since they were clearing out the old inventory, I didn't have much of a choice. However, I got a great deal on the car (originally I was looking at Civics).

I drove mine off the dealer lot back in Feb 2002. The V6 was cool because of TCS, auto climate control (nifty thing back then!), dual exhaust and beefier rims, but in the end, the EX-L matched our needs well.

So if I were to go back in time, I would've stuck with my EX-L :smile

Both of mine are EX-L.. Only way to go with along with an upgraded BT double din stereo and speakers.

If I would have had the chance, I would have purchased a 2000+ Accord EX with leather seats. I really dig the NSX-inspired redesign of the rear end. And I dig leather seats.

Just realized I forgot to add paint codes and interior colors...I would've liked nighthawk black or dark emerald pearl, with a charcoal interior.

I would get mine in 5-Speed instead of 4AT, blue exterior over the silver, the trunk release (as the option button on my OEM remote is pretty much useless), and possibly get the V6 (if the v6 came with the 5 speed as an option). However, the car was about $19k, with options as keyless entire, CD player, and some other stuff that I forgot what they were. It ended up being $20k, but with a loan it ended up to a total of $24k.

But now I am kinda on the border of snatching me a '17 Touring V6 or jumping over to the '18 TLX w/ V6, Tech package, and A-spec or the so-called "2018 Honda Passport", in the near future, as my mom is fighting with me for the 6th gen.

My uncle bought the car originally so we have all the paperwork. I'll have to dig it up. if I recall that car was eye opening expensive.
@datechbpss101 hmm I see you too are tempted by the 9th.

The Value Package had no power door locks, windows, mirrors, or cruise control. It came with an automatic tranny, but only had the F23A5 that lacks VTEC and is hard to find parts for. It came with a CD/Cassette/Stereo with six speakers and the fake woodgrain center console. It had AC rather than just a vent. It had the cheaper DX seats and thinner carpet and less sound dampening. It had 14" steelies with front discs and rear drums. No fogs. Overall it was an EXCELLENT budget car, IMHO much nicer than a barren DX but without all the electrical gizmos in the LX/EX. It was a lot of car for cheap.

So, in essence, it was halfway between the contemporary DX and LX models.

Ours is a DD with close to 300,000 miles on the clock and no engine rebuilds. The auto tranny was replaced with a reman from the dealership @260,000. Lots of stuff has been replaced between 200,000 and today. It was repainted about five years ago. Looks fantastic, too.

What would I add? Well, I have owned five 5 Accords, all told, and only this one is not an LX. I am planning on adding all the door stuff (mirrors, locks, windows), and I will be adding cruise, if that can be plugged in and made to work with my computer. I also am doing the stereo over. I am looking at doing an auto-to-manual tranny swap, too. I have swapped out trannys in my Jeeps. It is easy. It takes a lot of parts, some special tools and lots of time. People here freak out when you say you plan on *gasp* UPGRADING you vehicle instead of selling it and buying another vehicle. I cannot figure out why one would take a vehicle they have worked on for many years and know very well and toss it out to buy one they have no information on. I *like* my car. Very much. Why would I ever sell it? Doing a transmission on a non-VTEC engine is EASY. In this car it is nearly bolt-in compared to, say, a Volvo 740. Now *that* is a difficult swap.

Anyway, I supposed I would have bumped up my used 6th Gen purchase from a then-three-year-old 2001 VP to maybe a new 2004 LX except that I dislike every 7th Gen Accord ever made. So this would never have happened in the first place. I was not interested in a Honda Accord that was new in 2004. Not my cup of tea. ;-)

A better question for me would be which of the three would I buy again, upgraded or not. I would hands down get a brand new 6th Gen if I could. I would never again waste money of an 8th Gen due to the VTC Actuator, the oil burning, the bad door lock servos, etc. However, I would also buy another Gen 9 Accord, but this time I would not get the LX 6 speed but a Sport, which is what I *really* wanted. The Gen 9 Sport is a GREAT car!

Found it. 25611.92 OTD for the 2000 EX-V6 10/14/99. Too bad it wasn't MT about the only thing I would have changed. Well, I might have considered the Acura TL.

I'd get discs on all four corners - I *hate* working on drum brakes! I dunno, could you get 4w discs on an LX then? Oh, and of course alloy wheels. Other than that, I have no beef with what came with a 5sp LX.

I'd get it in 5 speed so I could skip the swap. I actually learned a lot doing the swap so strike that lol. Id actually get the v6 instead for the 6 speed swap. I'd second discs all around as drum brakes really do suck. Id definitely reach for the alloy rims and I'd probably go with the coupe because it's sportier looking.

I liked my 6th generation better than the 9th generation I have now so if I could buy a new one just like it I would. Mine was an EXL V6 Coupe in white with beige leather. The only change I would want would be a MT instead of the AT I had. But my car was a '98 and you couldn't get a MT with a V6 that year so I guess I would want one a couple of years newer so I could have a MT.

Don't know too much about the different options you can get for the sir-t but id sure like to have a sunroof. Don't need 2 different stereos than come and would like better speakers. Other than that I'm pretty content with the whip and all she has to offer.

I like mine the way it is.....mostly. I have the EX-L, and the ONLY thing I don't like is the sunroof. If there were an option to remove a feature, it would be the sunroof. If MT were an option for the v6, I would have done MT and no sunroof.

Actually, depending on how the 10th Gen Accord will look like and if they discontinue the V6 and the traditional auto, that will make my decision to leave the Accord (but not Honda) and go to the new TLX with the V6 or the Pilot, since I have to deal with the CVT that is in my Nissan. However, I am still convincing my mom to give up and to give me lucky and telling her that she can get herself a new car for another 10 years and sell it then or sell it until my brother graduates from high school.

I posted this picture in another thread since someone else had the same color and model 6th gen accord.

This is my mom's 6th gen with 100235 on it.

Hmm...mine is used, but if I'd gotten it new, I would have remote locks, alloys 4 wheel discs, spoiler (just for looks), fogs. I do too much stop and go driving to enjoy a manual ... automatic climate control, woodgrain trim ...
