Just this morning I picked up 2006 accord 4cyl EXL w/nav
Yes, this thing has 510k miles!
It’s still on its original engine and transmission!
I got the car from the original owner who kept it up very nicely.
The transmission shifts great, it’s smooth as one with less than 100k miles.
No check engine lights or codes on any systems of the car.
Most recent work was a new catalytic converters and AC compressor.
The engine runs and pulls as strong as the last 07 accord I had with 200k miles. No strange noises from the engine at all.
Oil was always changed based on the maintenance minder as well as transmission fluid and other maintenance.

One thing I need to do is prob replace the struts as they are original and getting a little bouncy but still very smooth on the highway.

Just wanted to share the car with other owners I’ll add more pics later to show how it has held up over the miles

510k miles on original sturts? Holy cow!!

That car is owed at least two sets of struts. You best put in a new set, drive around for a couple weeks and then put in another.

If you don't mind, how much did you pay for it? I just looked up the book on it and that mileage only drops the value $750.

And people think I'm crazy that I want to make it to 500k, telling me that it's "dangerous" and "safety first." This car looks in very good condition for having 510k miles! Keep it going!

Lol I was surprised as well when he told me that on the struts! They are for sure ready to come out though!

I paid $3700 for it. I am in the southeast too. I know that is a lot and I could have gotten one with 150k to 250k easy for that money but the features and the overall condition of the car was actually better than all the other ones in my area.

I was scared at first before I looked at it but as soon as I started it and drove off I was so impressed. It drove and had the same amount of power as any other accord of the same year.
I liked the odd idea of having the high mileage and the story behind it so I went with it and 24 hours into owning it I have driven 200 miles already and no issues and no regrets so far!

There is nothing wrong with that!
This car was driven 100-120 miles a day interstate Monday to Friday since December of 2005

Yup, if you do the recommended maintenance and maybe a little beyond, that can happen.

All I see is that the headlights need a refinish that's all :) And I'm guessing the timing chain has never been replaced correct? If that's the case, then it was really well taken care of.

Your new (to you) car looks like it is in fantastic shape! At some point, could you post some more exterior and interior photos? I’d be interested to see how it’s held up over that half million miles!

Yes! That’s on the list of things to to!

Timing chain is original and I plan to have the tensioner checked to see how stretched it is and the overall condition

Once I get it cleaned up the way I want it, I’ll do you one better and make a video on it!

Do you know if it burns oil and/or if the transmission fluid was ever changed? Also, we had a guy here who did the first spark plug change at 500,000 miles. Have they been changed?
So the Owner claimed it burned half a quart to a quart over an oil change interval.

Trans fluid changed every 50k miles

Not sure on the spark plugs but just changed them today

Congrats on the purchase! I've got same color Accord as well. 500K miles on any vehicle is a huge milestone. Keep it maintained and you shouldn't have any issues getting more miles out of this! I'm also on original struts at 216K, but thinking it's time to swap them out this fall.

Check out the video on the car! I’ve made a few other videos as well but don’t judge to hard I’m new to talking behind a camera!
Man, that was terrific! Thanks for making the video. The condition of that Accord after a half million miles (or more than one round trip to the moon, if you’re keeping score celestially) is impressive. I’m assuming it was garage-kept?

Did the seller tell you why he got rid of it and didn’t just keeping rolling more and more miles with it? Do you know what the seller did for a living that kept him on the road so much? And last question (at least for now)... aside from the struts, any planned maintenance or repairs in the near future?

If it was garage kept it would’ve only been at night.
The seller took a nasty fall and a hip injury made it hard to get in and out of the car.

He bought the car new in dec of 2005 and is a doctor that had his practice about 65 miles from home. He drove it 128 miles a day minimum Monday to Friday.

The struts are noises and bouncy. Those will be replaced very soon.

It’s going To my buddy’s shop today for a complete check over and i want him to see how much the timing chain has stretched and check all the other suspension components

I just changed the transmission fluid 3 times and it looked good on the dipstick but came out somewhat darker than expected. But now it shifts great. So I will prob swap the filter on the trans too

Congrats on your "new" car, and welcome to DriveAccord :)
