Does anyone have any experience with windshield shade covers for the 2018 accords yet?

I seen vehicle specific ones available from HeatShield, Weathertech, Covercraft so far. Anyone have a preference on brand or just prefer a generic non vehicle specific one?

Currently looking for one fitted for our Accords that folds up instead of roll up which seems to be Covercraft only. Any suggestions?

I bought the WeatherTech sunshade the first week of taking delivery of the 18 Accord, but did prior research between the WeatherTech and the Covercraft. The WeatherTech is a Rollup and was about $50. I went with the WeatherTech since I've bought many things from them in the past and their general quality and service were always excellent, and it has the ability to become reversible so that it can retain heat in the colder months. For those going with the WeatherTech when ordering, make sure you choose the right model, whether the "large sensor (homelink)" or "small sensor" your Accord has.

My coworker has a Covercraft for his 9th Gen Accord and they are high quality as well, but I actually preferred the rollup design better and the material used, since it was super reflective like a mirror. Both of them are edge to edge since they are custom fit to the Accord's Windshield. Can't go wrong with either, as both are completely opaque to the dashboard, so I guess it's a matter of deployment preference.

In terms of the WeatherTech, it's edge to edge from the left, bottom, and right sides and will protect the dashboard very well. But the cutout for the HondaSense Camera at the top leaves maybe about 2-5cm around it... I was fine with this, as its still custom. When it's used, you don't necessarily have to use the visors to hold the shield in place, as it'll hold on its own. If you do want to use the reversible (black side) in the winter, it doesn't quite fit at the top due to the asymmetrial placement of the rearview mirror/camera housing, so you'll probably have to just drape the dashboard.

Even being a rollup, it takes less than a minute to deploy and put it back together for the WeatherTech. It has a very solid foam core, and I use mine daily and notice a difference... it's probably a good idea also for Touring Owners to help cover the HUD, I was paranoid protecting it with the motors and electronics up there lol during blistering hot summers. I can take some pics later today once I'm off work.

This is fantastic - thanks for the overview! Can't wait to see the pics if you get around to it.

I've been using sunshades like these for years with all my Accords. Typically made of nylon with spring steel wire sewn in around the edges. Comes in pairs that are available in different sizes for small, medium, large windshields. Not model-specific and they fit many different cars. Usually available in color and/or designs. Mine are reversible with solid, reflective silver color on one side and solid black on the other.

The pair overlap each other so there's no gap in the middle and the spring wire holds them taut in place. I put the sun visors down behind them for a little extra hold. I leave a little air space between them and the Sensing camera in the top/middle of the windshield so that unit doesn't overheat.

Nice thing is they stack on top of each other and with a flip of the wrists the pair twists down into a smaller, flat form that's held with the attached elastic band. I can easily slide them into the seat pocket on the back of either front seat in my Accord, currently a '16 Coupe, from the driver's seat.

This same pair has been in used in 3 different Accords over the last ~15 years, and no signs of wear/tear. They only cost ~$10-$20 at places like Walmart, etc.

(Note: Internet image, not a pix of my Accord.)

15 years? Awesome. They have worked for me just fine.

But, bring that thing to So Cal, the sun will smoke it right up for you. :devil

I mostly park under a tree, so use a car cover and cover the whole thing.
Still burns up in 2 years, and towards the end I am taping the rips, the material is thin.
A lot depends on where you live. :dunno:

Where do y'all store the sunshade? I already have stuff in the back of the passenger seat.
I usually just toss mine in the back since I tend to keep things at minimal. But if I have passengers in the car, I just toss it all the way in the back at the rear deck with the speakers are if it's a minimal drive... if longer I toss it in the trunk... don't wanna continually blind the person driving behind me.

Yours has the same issue as mine; the middle sags down a good bit. If it were about 3/4" narrower horizontally that sag wouldn't form I don't think.
Yeah I wasn't too happy about that since I was hoping it could be up completely visor free as advertised, but I think putting down the visors definitely help narrow the gap a bit... it's still there, but better...

I'm sure Honda has done their environmental testing... but does anyone know how durable the camera and it's housing are with past generations? Just wondering because it's completely exposed and it's black in color...soooo yeah heat may not be its best friend.

I saw that brand at the dealer, it appears to be somewhat cheaper and an imitation of the WT. Did you get that impression at all?
I can't really answer that as I've never used WT, nor have I ever seen one. They're a great company, though, I use their floor liners.

I use these pop-up ones too. Works in every car I have. I like that they pop open and stay straight, instead of needing to be unfolded and saggy, plus they fold down to such a small size.

I use the WeatherTech sunshade for my Sport. It fits pretty well. My only complaint is the velcro wrap strip has moved longitudinally from continued uses of rolling it up so there is a glue streak before the strip now. I have a feeling eventually it will come off and I will just have a loose velcro strip left to wrap around it - or I'll need to use rope or something.

I got the CoverCraft UVS-100 Sunscreen. It is supposed to be custom fit for the car but there seems to be quite a gap around the rear view mirror as you can see in the pics. This is with the sun straight up at noon and you can see still some sunlight hits the infotainment screen.

Otherwise, it seems to be well made and we will see how long it lasts here in Phoenix.

I've been using UVS-100 for over 20 years they are extremely durable. The gap is probably because of the front camera on the other side of the mirror, so between the two you can see how much space they take up, etc.
