I have a concern if my brake system my be faulty.

Coming onto a stop my brakes seem to have a step right before they start to bite.
I seem to keep pressing down then they start to bite and grab too much making me to dip and drive like a new driver lol.
Just like to get other feed back on the 2.0T version my 9GEN sport never did this.

I am hoping they will get better or i will adjust

FYI I have 8 GEN & 9 GEN and brakes never felt this way?

Do not wait too long.
Run and document it accurately with your dealer's honda computer ASAP
Brakes and suspension components are covered of the first 12K miles or first 12 mo.

This is not a normal function for braking system as you have described here.

Try to stop car from 20mph using electronic E brake alone and see if that clears out ABS of trapped air.
Air would then be moved out towards calipers and your brakes can feel spongier.

Otherwise, the slide pin or the the calipers are sitting un even or binding.

I've driven a 1.5 Sport, and a 2.0 Touring...I have not experienced any kind of touchy brakes...I wouldn't hesitate to take the car to the dealership to be looked at

I have also driven the 1.5 Sport a few time before my purchase but did not notice a problem. If I did, I figure it was because of it been new,
but now that I own it.

I have only driven 170 miles so far...

It is more than just touchy (at first) I feel the step of nothing at the start then as I press down more, a second step with a good bite of the brakes by that time making the braking feel too aggressive and not smooth like.
I try to smooth it out but it not easy for my first week.
My wife as a passenger notice the dipping everytime I brake lol

This is less subtle when coming to a complete stop from higher speeds but tend to notice it a more from speed 40 MPH and under.
Making the car dip a little bit everytime.

I am afraid they will tell me to wait till the break in period has passed, typically is about 500 miles give or take.

This will be my 8th new Honda so I think I know what i am taking about.
Just for kicks - I think I should test drive another 2.0T and see if I get the same feel, if they are the same then it's just me getting old.

I will keep everyone posted.

Thank you!

That's unsafe you guys, get to the dealer asap.

Could it be the the CMBS system? Does the 2.0 Sport have that system ?

I'd still have it checked out though.

Thanks for everyone’s comment.
I took the car back to dealership and they also agreed that there is something wrong.
We also test drove another 2.0t and it was night & day.
This is so new that they do not know where to start.
Fortunately due to the date of the year it will not be looked at until next Tuesday following after the new year.

The sales manager offered me a loaner “a new 17 Sport SE” while mine is in the shop.

So there you have it.

First 2.0t they sell and the first one that comes back for service.

I hope it is something simple but might not be according to what the lead techinicion said to me; It is most likely going to need to replace the brake booster which is now electric.

Let’s see what happens.
I will share more information by mid week.

For now let’s celebrate - Happy New Year!!

Hmm, I have a 1.5T sport and I feel like it is the same as you experienced. As reference, I came from a 2008 Accord V6.

The brakes feels like its have 2 steps.

Th first, from nothing to a 1/4 inch ish press, it does not feel linear nor smooth and grabby. Really jerky at low speeds. Not really an issues at highway speeds.

After getting pass the first step, it starts to bite harder and feels like a regular, linear brake pedal similar to my old Accord.

I have over 1k miles on mine and no change.

I have a 2.0 touring 10speed with 1500 miles now and it’s very annoying how touchy the brakes are in the first initial mm of me pressing the pedal. I have yet to make a smooth stop. I agree the brakes seem to have like a 2~3 step thus making a stop seem like ur just learning how to drive.

I test drove a 1.5T touring. Touchy indeed much like when my parents went car shopping between Camry and Accord back in 2005 and we choose the Toyota because the Accord brakes felt touchy.

However, it only took me say the 3rd try in the 1.5T to adjust myself to be smooth. Anyhow interested to see how this turns out.

Driven approximately forty 1.5 and 2.0's so far, none of them has displayed any unusual braking.

I'm putting my money on the brake booster...

I hope OP gets this figured out. With the amount of people just in this thread having the same issue it would be good to have the problem identified and thoroughly fixed ASAP. I would suggest anyone with this problem, to call their dealership and report it.

Serious question.

Are you a driver for a dealership to drive so many 10 gens?

What is the temperature in your part of the country N Indiana or S Indiana? Cold, warm, etc

I ask about temperature since only a couple folks have put where they are. One San Diego , One DFW and one NJ. Curious if the temperature is a factor or not.

What transmission(s) does this seem to be happening with, by the way?

I don't know if this is a similar problem. I had a CVT 2015 Altima as a rental car about a year ago and I had a problem with the brakes. I’m not sure if it was the brake pads being worn down or the brakes themselves, but stopping gracefully wasn’t really an option unless the lightest of touch on the brake pedal was used.

I had one incident where trying to [gently] stop at a stop sign from about 10 MPH resulted in the brakes admitting a slight squeal, slipping on the rotors and failing to stop the car, making an awful grinding/skipping sound as it did so. I slid a couple of feet on dry road as the car (and my heart) came to a stop. This was the second stop I had made after starting the car that morning. This was a one-time incident however, the skidding thing didn't happen again for the time I had it.

I am. I'm retired and do new car dealer-trades for our local Honda dealer.

I live in Northern Indiana, so about the same weather as you, like Oakbrook Center or Villa Park School District #88.

Started driving the Gen 10 in mid October when temps were still mild to warm. And of course now in single digits or less.

obviously "touchy" is a subjective term, and whats touchy to me, might not be touchy to you, and vice versa...However, i will say that i always felt my mother's '05 Accord LX had touchy brakes...and i remember remarking on both of my test drives (1.5 Sport, and 2.0 Touring) that the brakes felt very smooth and much less touchy than her old car...

so this is interesting to read about touchy brakes on these cars...i'll have to reserve further judgement until whenever my dealer finally locates my car

Picked up my 2.0T Touring on Friday and have approx 150 mile son her now, no issues noted with the brakes even in the recent single digit to sub-zero temps here in the Northeast.
Remember there is a bed in period for brakes. Anytime I've installed new rotors and pads on previous cars you need to follow bed in procedures. Usually consists of moderate to hard stops from progressive speeds. Not saying that is what is going on here, but certainly something to consider.
